I have far more Mickey Mouse coffee mugs than I would have ever imagined 10 years ago. For a while, I’ve claimed all the Disney paraphernalia was simply inspiration for my novel. Noe that the novel’s written, what’s my excuse? Oh well, best to coffee up and not think too deeply on it.

Okay, I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t really know much about yin and yang, but I do know something about the woman in this picture. I know that, in many ways, she’s my opposite – not only in gender. Whereas I am tall, broad, pale and coarse, she is petite, thin, tan and lithe. Where I am rough, clumsy, and often temperamental, she is smooth, graceful and controlled. We have many things in common, but it is our complementary traits that make our love special – that, like the dark and milk chocolates in the fondue pot, swirl together in delicious unity.

Though we have known each other for sixteen years, loved each other fourteen, been married nearly eleven, she is as mysterious to me as the day we met. I don’t know that I’ll ever solve that mystery, but I relish the challenge!
